Examines costs associated with the use of homeless and mainstream service delivery systems by families and individuals experiencing homelessness for the first time in six study communities. Assigning costs to public programs is a first step toward developing measures of the value of public interventions compared to the public costs incurred by ignoring or avoiding the problems those interventions are intended to address. The study finds that the experience of homelessness is diverse and the associated costs vary tremendously depending on the pattern of homelessness and family or individual sta

The long wars in Iraq & Afghanistan have cost the U.S. in many ways. For the U.S. mil., the human toll has been profound. The damage to our internat. reputation has been severe. This study compares medical costs in Minnesota1s workers1 compensation system to workers1 compensation medical costs in other states. Medical coverage in the workers1 compensation system is virtually the same in all states. If we assume workers in each state had similar injuries, the amount and type of medical care should be approximately the same in each. Under these assumptions, observed differences in medical costs could occur for a number of reasons. Among them are interstate differences in average medical costs, worker demographics and workers1 compensation systems.

Human activities around the world are producing increasingly large quantities of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide (CO2) resulting from the consumption of fossil fuels and deforestation. A comprehensive response to that problem would include a collection of strategies: research to better understand the scientific processes at work and to develop technologies to address them; measures to help the economy and society adapt to the projected warming and other expected changes; and efforts to reduce emissions. This report discusses the economic costs of reducing greenhouse-gas emissions
