Experimental smoke-filling tests were carried out in a single-story building. Trays of methanol were burnt. The fire gases were made visible by the use of artificial smoke added to the fire plume. This study concerned the effects on vents by varying the position & distribution of the inlet openings near the floor. The effects of dividing the building into two reservoirs by a smoke curtain were considered where the inflow of air into the fire reservoir was provided by the ceiling vents of the adjacent reservoir. Charts, tables & drawings.

The Santa Rita Experimental Range (SRER), founded in 1903, is the oldest research area maintained by the Forest Service & has been a principal site for pioneer range research on the improvement & management of semiarid grasslands in the Southwest. Results of this research have direct applicability to over 20 million acres of semiarid rangelands in the U.S. & to another 20 million acres in northern Mexico. The history of research, an environmental description, & a discussion on vegetation changes are provided along with a complete listing of scientific publications related to SRER.
