Nepal: New Horizons? examines the changes in people's attitudes to the traditional monarchy and rigid social structures, and describes the reality of life in a society which is undergoing a major change as a result of contact with Western influences - particularly tourism.

This paper examines a small area west of Verrill Canyon on the Scotian Slope to address whether sedimentological and geomechanical features of piston cores would explain the localized occurrence of sediment failures. The seabed in the area was divided into zones of disturbed, undisturbed, and erosional areas, and six continuous acoustic reflectors were traced throughout the area from high-resolution acoustic records. Nine sediment cores, providing a composite stratigraphy of the acoustic section, are described and the relationship of the failure horizons to core lithology and physical properti
